Child's Song in Spring
O bluebird and Robin,
O Catbird and Wren,
I want you to rent
Our bird houses again.
I'm lonely all winter
When you've gone away.

As flowers in May.~Submitted by Cheryl's Sweethearts ChildCare

Bird Song
Oh, there's music in the forests
And there's music in the glen
As the birds are warbling greetings to the spring that's come again.
All their piping is so merry
That the woodlands seem to ring
With the praises of the bird songs for the coming of the spring.
Join the joyous woodland chorus and raise high your voice
in cheer - Join the bird songs in thanksgiving for the springtime of the year.~Submitted by Cheryl's Sweethearts ChildCare
Bird Walk
Jimmy Sparrow, as I pass,
Goes a-hopping on the grass,
Just as though he had some things
Up inside like little springs.
So he doesn't walk at all,
Just goes bouncing like a ball.
Hippity-hop he goes, then stops.
Hippity-hop,
Hop-hop,
hop, hop!~Submitted by Cheryl's Sweethearts ChildCare
Bird Walk #2
Peter Pigeon, while he walks,
Talks his little cooing talks,
Pumping with his head as though
That's what makes his two feet go.
Round the fountain, round and round
Just as though he had been wound,
Pumpity-pump, and then a jump.
Pumpity-pump,
Pump-pump,
Pump, pump!~Submitted by Cheryl's Sweethearts ChildCare
Bird In The Hand
I clean the cage, replenish seeds,
Change the water, watch her needs,
In fact, obey the slightest tweet
From one imperious parakeet!
On the branch outside, the wild birds away,
And sing to me the live long day;
That proverb's fine, but by sonme quirk,
The bird in the hand's a lot of work!~Submitted by Cheryl's Sweethearts ChildCare

Bird Activity and Song
Make a tree with no leaves that is large enough to fit your flannel board. Make at least one felt bird of each of these colors: red, yellow, green, purple, orange, blue, black, brown. (You can make more than one of each color if neccessary---so each child will have one.) Give each child a colored bird. Place the tree on the flannel board. Song:
Little Red bird in the tree
in the tree, in the tree
Little Red bird in the tree
Sing me a song. The child or children who have a red bird places the bird on the tree and sings "Tweet Tweet." Repeat for each color. This is great for children to review their colors.
