When the wind rushes,

March Wind
March wind is a jolly fellow;
Swirling and sweeping,
Little white clouds
All wake from their sleeping.
Across the bright sky
they tumble and fly
To play with the kites
that are jiggling by.
Dipping and dancing,
The clothes on the clothesline
Start leaping and prancing.
They rattle their clothespins
and away they all fly
To play with the clouds
And the kites in the sky!

He turns umbrellas inside out
And blows men's hats away.
He calls the pussy willows
And whispers in each ear,
"Wake up you lazy little seeds,
Don't you know that spring is here.
Paper Plate Kite
Paper Plate
Have your children color the paper plate any way they'd like. Next have them glue foot long streamers on the paper plate. Finally punch a hole at the nose of the plate and tie a piece of yarn through it. Wrap additional yarn around a craft stick (tape the yarn to the stick) Now your children have a kite that will really fly on a windy day.
Crayons or Markers

Craft Sticks
Feather Blowing
Provide each child with a feather and have them blow it in the air or across a table. Explain how that is what happens when the wind blows.
Kite Toast
Cut a slice of bread into a kite shape and have the children butter it. Toast it and add a licorice string for a cute kite snack.
