Sally arrived safely this afternoon. We didn't get much time to play with her though, so we are looking forward to tomorrow. Lori's daughter Katelyn played dress up with Sally and got her in her pj's and ready for bed. Katelyn is 13, and made us promise we wouldn't tell her friends.

Everyone was very excited to dig into Sally's box this morning. Lori had to put the hairdryer away, though. It was quite a distraction to the boys trying to get ready for the school bus. Thank you for the great presents. Everyone loves the fruit snacks and coloring books, and Lori loves her candle.

It's a cold and dreary day in Tupper Lake. Hopefully the sun will come out later so we can go out. Everyone is enjoying their time with Sally, although the eyepatch has been a challenge. The younger ones keep pulling it off, so we decided Sally would wear it in the afternoons and evenings after the daycare kids go home, and then we'd take it off before bedtime.

It's a sunny cold day today in NY. We spent a lot of time outdoors (with jackets on!) Sally loves story time and arts & crafts. The kids love playing dress up with her too.

Friday September 14, 2007

This is our last day with Sally Bear. Since Lori has no daycare kids coming to her house tomorrow, we thought we'd get Sally in the mail to Yolanda so her kids can have most of next week to play with her.

Today we are going to make pumpkin cookies, pain some apple pictures (using our fingerprints), and look at some catalogs of Halloween costumes. We are going to cut out our favorite costumes and make a collage.

We had a great time with Sally this week and will miss her TONS!!! Thanks for letting us be a part of this great project.

On the way to the bus stop we saw the postman and told her that sometime next week we should be getting another traveling bear. She was involved at the arrival of our last bear and was so thrilled by the children’s reaction to such a project.

After settling in and eating our snack, there was a knock on the door. The postman brought us our bear!!! The postman was just as excited as we all were! We thanked her and immediately let Sally free from her box. We fed her and she told us about her current travels and was looking forward to spending the week with us.

Saturday and Sunday, September 29 & 30, 2007

The weekend was spent getting to know Sally. We took her out to dinner and even to a soccer game and to a park made out of tires! She had a great time and showed us insects and trees.

Monday, October 1, 2007

Today all the kids played with Sally. She helped 2 of children continue their potty training attempts and told the children she was so proud of them. The kids felt Sally needed some pampering time, so they gave her some beauty treatments. Sally even brought her hair dryer with her and the children took turns playing with it.

The children decided they will take turns with napping with Sally. They seem to feel that this will be fair for all of them. . .Sally was grateful there was no fighting and was happy that the children understood sharing!

Tuesday, October 2, 2007

Sally helped the kids with letters today. We were focusing on R and T. The children were making books with Sally. We had a quiet and relaxing day with Sally and enjoyed the outdoors.

Wednesday, October 3, 2007

Sally went with us to take the a few of the children to pre-school. She couldn’t believe all of the little ones that were there. They came up to her and were so happy to meet with her. She got to see all the little ones go in to the school. We then went on an adventure walk. She showed us some of her favorite trees and plants. We had a great day.

Thursday, October 4, 2007

Sally and the children went to the local shopping Mall for a storytime. We sang about spiders and bugs. After the storytime, we went on a carousel ride. Sally and the children had a good time and no one got dizzy. Afterwards we went to lunch. When the older children got home from school, Sally helped them with their homework. She was so excited the kids loved to do math and read.

Friday, October 5, 2007

Today is our last day with Sally. The children were both sad and excited. Sad that Sally will be leaving us, but excited that she can continue her journey to other child care homes. We had lots of hugs and kisses and fed her very well for her continued journey. She also got another beauty treatment so she will be perfect for her next daycare. We will remember her always. . .

When the children arrived they were excited to see the box sitting on the couch. They couldn't wait to open it up it up and meet Sally. The children all took turns giving Sally a big hug. We had fun exploring the box. The children read Sally a story and played with her all day showing her things at the daycare.

Sally had a nice relaxing weekend. It was busy with cleaning the house and doing errands. Sally kept Baby Aidan some company as he is teething and pretty cranky. She played with Aidan on his ladybug mat. She gave him hugs to help make him feel better. She wanted to take a nap with Aidan but Aidan decided to stay up all day both days and Sally was tired so she took a nap.

Monday, October 15, 2007

Today the children were back. We did preschool and talked about farm animals. Sally enjoyed listening to the children making farm animal sounds. She thought that they sounded pretty silly especially the duck sounds. Sally liked to do art with the children and she loves free play time.

Tuesday, October 16, 2007

Today was a nice sunny day. We took Sally on a walk. The children took turns carrying Sally. We looked at the halloween decorations people had up on their yards. We saw a lot of pumpkins, ghosts and witches. In the afternoon we played outside. Sally liked to swing and play in the sandbox.

Wednesday, October 17, 2007

Yuck! It rained all day today. We played inside with playdough. Sally liked to play with the purple. We made pretend food. Sally made pizza and hamburgers out of playdough. We pretended to eat it. We also played with the potatoe heads and made some funny faces on them.

Tuesday, October 23, 2007

we got sally today around 3 pm. Poor Gaven carried her box all the way by himself from the mailbox a block away. The kids were so eager to open up her box and today it a day everyone was here. Macie our 4 year old, who is very possessive, automatically claimed Sally as her. Needless to say she was quickly corrected. Bethanee (2yrs) tried drinking out of the bottle and when her mom showed up she started getting undressed cause she wanted to wear Sallys pants. Gaven and Seth filled a bucket up with water for two of the treats we received to make them grow.

Wednesday, October 24, 2007

Today Macie coveted Sally all day long, sadly when the other kids got home from school Mrs Trish had to put Sally up because someone refused to share Sally. That evening she went with us to boyscout along with Tex.

Thursday, October 25, 2007

Logan got his chance to be with Sally by himself. We had a very slow rest of the week. Mrs Trish got really sick and was closed the rest of the week, Gaven, who is homeschooled, kept Sally company. We got all the stuff we needed to send Sally off....we wished Mrs Trish wasnt so sick but we did have a good time.

Love, Mrs. Trish and the tots.......Gaven 11, Seth 9, Logan 5, Brynn 5, Macie 4, Ethan 4, Bethanee 2, Ophelia 10 mo, and Sarah 2 months.

Friday, November 2, 2007

Sally arrived late yesterday afternoon so we let her rest and opened up her box this morning! The children were very, very excited. Benjamin Bear had just visited us a few short weeks ago so the kids knew what was coming. They couldn't get Sally out of the box quick enough. It was soooo cute, they heard Sally whimpering before we opened the box and they all had their ears pressed up against the box listening.

Tuesday, November 6, 2007

Sally has been getting lots of love and attention here. First thing yesterday morning when the children returned to daycare after the weekend, we were bickering over who could hold her first. After explaining how we treat our friends, the children decided to share and have been including Sally into everything we do here. It's been really cold in Ohio. Today we have temps in the 30s and it's windy and even some light snow flurries.

Wednesday, November 7, 2007

Today we took Sally along with us to the Library for Story Time. Sally had a blast singing and dancing in the story room and then afterwards playing with the Trains and in the playhouse. She was especially fascinated by the fish tank! When we got home Sally disappeared for a bit. We found her up on a shelf with another bear. She had made a new friend!

Friday, November 9, 2007

The week has gone by very quickly. Today we are getting Sally ready to go home. She's had so much fun but she misses her Hailey and cannot wait to see her again. The kids here in Ohio really had a great time getting to know Sally.
