Good Day to you Miss Jana~

Appleton has been busy getting ready for his "great adventure". He and Miss Tami went shopping at Appleton's favorite store - Build-a-Bear. He got a new outfit to show off his "southern roots". We also bought a gift to give to Hope when she arrives. The kids learned about Appleton's travel adventure today for the first time and are so excited. They had fun pushing him around in one of their cars today, getting lots of play time in before he leaves.

Appleton arrived yesterday during class. We were soo excited, all of us went to the door to greet him. When Miss Nanette brought his box in (decorated to the T) we had one little girl become very upset. She had been apprehensive to begin with (the unknown). She started to cry and Miss Nanette kept reassuring her that it would be OK. When Miss Nanette told her that there was a present inside the box for us, the tears disappeared! So, the little girl, Emalee sat with Miss Nanette while she opened the box very carefully so that nothing got messed up on the outside. When we opened the box the children were so happy! We passed Appleton around so that all could see he was a cozy bear. He is dressed in his FL Gators outfit, too cute. Miss Nanette loves his flip flops! We cannot tell you what a great job Miss Tami did on everything she packed; his Gator blankie, FL ABC Book, photo albums and journal. We did not have time to the read the ABC book yet, we will do that next week. But the kids loved their fruit snacks, thank you very much and the music CD (wonderful idea) and puzzles. We cannot thank you enough for the generous gifts. Appleton did get to paint with us, we were learning Hey Diddle, Diddle. We acted it out, Appleton got to be the Cat & the fiddle, we used the flannel board pieces and then painted yellows moons for the cows to jump over! The preschool is closed today, Friday 9/19 but will be open on Monday for our two other classes. Appleton will have to pretend that he has not been to Little Wonders yet! Miss Nanette will pack him up and re-open him for each class. Appleton is napping now and is waiting for Miss Nanette's son Christian to get home from school, Christian is 6 years old in the 1st grade. Christian has bear friends of his own that he wants to introduce Appleton to! Thank you again Tami for the great box of fun.

We have been having soo much fun with Appleton the past two days. He loves preschool. His favorite activity at circle time is singing. Matter of fact we have a brand new good morning/afternoon song, "Little Hands" by Jack Hartman which Miss Tami sent to us! We really needed a new song for our afternoon class (we were using our good morning song!) So, we now have a new favorite to start our circle time with. Thank you Under the Apple Tree! We read the Florida ABC book and listened to the CD with it. That is a great book, we really enjoyed it. At table time all the children colored USA maps and we printed out tiny photos of Appleton to attach to their maps. The kids are tracking his adventure on their own personal maps. Oh, and Appleton has a brand new outfit! We couldn't let him leave California with out something to remember us by. One of our preschool mom's went to Appleton fav boutique this past weekend, Build A Bear and purchased him a San Francisco Giants Uniform, OMGOSH, he looks too cute in his uniform. (Don't worry Miss Tami, we will dress him in his Gators outfit for his trip). So, after two days of preschool Appleton is getting a much needed nap.

    Have a great evening all

Appleton has just arrived intact and is very happy to be out of his box, lol. That was a wild ride he had. The children were so excited to meet him. We all had a snack together, and now we're going outside to play! Thank you Colleen for all the wonderful gifts. We are going to have the crackers at our special farewell to Appleton lunch next week.

    Monday, October 27, 2008

Appleton was excited to see the children again. It was so quiet on the weekend without them. He went for a walk in the stroller, covered with his blanket, because it was cold and rainy outside.

    Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Our weather has turned very cold today, and it started to snow at lunchtime! I wonder if Appleton has ever seen snow before?? Appleton helped us cut open a pumpkin and learn what is inside them. Then he watched the children make their inside-out pumpkin art. He really enjoyed the pumpkin rhyme. The school aged girls took turns brushing him. They love to change his clothes.

    Thursday, October 30, 2008

Another cold day so we bundled Appleton up in his blanket so he could come play with us outside. He loves playing in the leaves. C was sad at nap time so Appleton slept with him and cheered him up.

    Friday, October 31, 2008

We spent the morning at the park, it was beautiful weather! Appleton went down the big slide all by himself, and T held him when they went down the curly slide. Such fun. All the children took turns with Appleton. After school we had our special snack that Colleen sent us.

    Monday, November 3, 2008

We’re all sad because it’s our last day with Appleton. We’ve had a lot of fun, and I think he has too! We got him ready to go on his next adventure. Goodbye Appleton.

Step By Step Child Care - Ohio

    Monday, November 17, 2008

Appleton arrived here in Ohio Friday afternoon during naptime. All the children were asleep so I decided I'd wait until everyone was here today (Monday) before meeting Appleton. The children squealed very loudly when they saw Appleton's box! Then they got very quiet and put their ears up to the box to see if they could 'hear' Appleton in there. But it was very quiet. I began to open the box. The kids told me to be really careful cutting the tape off the box. And then, we lifted open the flaps............... and .......... NO Appleton! Where was he? Hmmmmmmmmm. I told the children to take some of the items out of the box. They did. Still NO Appleton! By now everyone was pretty worried. I suggested we take more items out of the box. There he is! Sleeping on the bottom. He had had a very long journey to Ohio from Canada. He traveled 9 days to get to us. The children woke him up and he was pretty dazed. He shook himself off a bit and was ready to meet everyone. Then it began to snow and the children showed Appleton out the window.

    Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Appleton joined us for Preschool this morning. We learned all about Pilgrims. Appleton was a little worried about the big boat ride on the Mayflower. He listened to our story very intently and watched the children make a book about Pilgrims. After Preschool, Appleton looked out the window and got very excited when he saw inches and inches of SNOW! He wanted to go outside sooooo badly. I told him he could just go out very briefly to feel what it felt like and to get his picture taken. He was so excited. He could not believe how cold it was to touch that stuff. We did a snow experiment by bringing some snow into the house and letting it melt. The snow turned into water! BUT it's 'dirty' water and the children learned how even though they like to eat the snow it's not all that healthy for us!

    Monday, November 24, 2008

We packed up Appleton this morning for the next leg of his journey - Delaware. One of the daycare kid's moms arrived with an Ohio State hat for Appleton to wear. It's very cold and snowy here and we all wanted Appleton to remember us. After snapping a few photos and giving goodbye hugs, Appleton was off. We'll miss you Appleton! Be safe!
