Patriot Bear had a great week last week - we played at the park and one day we had an outside picnic. The weather was beautiful last week after Hurricane Irene the week before so we were outside enjoying it as much as possible! Jackson helped Patriot get a drink of water. Emilee helped him up into the swing and then pushed him until he could "pump" the swing himself. David helped him climb the rock tower and they made it to the top together! Devante helped Patriot down the fireman's pole and Ciara helped him across the moving bridge. Patriot was amazed at all the wonderful adventures he and Isabelle went on and then Andrew started pushing him home for us. When Andrew got tired of pushing he decided to carry him home . . . maybe he should have pushed him all the way home :) Poor Patriot!
On Thursday we enjoyed an outside picnic and Patriot was our guest of honor. We talked about how he was going to spend this next week getting ready for his big journey and all the neat daycares he is going to visit. We can't wait to hear all about his adventures!
This week we will spend some last days with him and will prepare his luggage for his travels. Be safe Patriot and we will all miss you!

Patriot is enjoying his visit here. The weather has been wonderful. He has gotten to see the 8th grade band the last two days. They have marched over to Walleta's house to play for us. We joined them yesterday with our band instruments. On Weds. we will be going to play group. The kids all like it they say. More later. :)

On Friday we went to the Browndale Farm. There were many things to do there. We went for a hayrack ride, ran threw a straw bale tunnel and jumped from bale to bale. We also were able to pick out a pumpkin. I also have been able to help celebrate two birthdays while I was here. My visit is coming to and end. I off to Canada now.

Patriot bear has arrived in Canada. He looks awesome. We are so excited to have him visit with us. We will make sure that he has tons of fun.
Thank you so much Andi for the super cool glasses I will make sure to take pictures of the kids wearing them. And thank you Walleta for the bubbles. It has been so long since we have had some bubble fun here, I forgot how much the kids love bubbles, the weather here has been abnormally warm for October so we will definately enjoy some bubble time outside with Patriot, while wearing our super cool new glasses.
The kids here will be hugging, kissing and loving on Patriot until the 14th of October when we will send him off to Step by Step to continue on his journey.

Patriot has been having a lot of fun here in Canada. The weather has been incredibly warm and we have spent a lot of time outside playing with our new bubbles. On Friday Patriot enjoyed a Canadian thanksgiving lunch with the Discovery Kid's Daycare children. He also helped to make his very own turkey craft hat. Patriot thinks the children look so cute in their new reading glasses. We are really enjoying having Patriot here to celebrate thanksgiving with us. Today (Saturday) we took Patriot to the local farmers market, he really enjoyed shopping for fresh vegetables. Patriot chose a new red Canada t shirt to take home with him as a souvenir.

Patriot enjoyed meeting some new family and friends for our Canadian Thanksgiving dinner. Patriot traveled by car to pick up Grandma and bring her down to Brampton for our big turkey dinner. Patriot really likes turkey and stuffing. After his big dinner he curled up in a comfy chair with his bunny and his blanket and slept all night.

We spent the day loving on Patriot as it was a holiday here.
Tuesday, October 11, 2011
We celebrated having Patriot with us and we invited our penpals from Valley Wood Kidz Klub to come and join us for a Teddy Bear Picnic day. There were a lot of little hands hugging and kissing Patriot all day. We read Patriots favourite book Good Night Sleep Tight; with our friends and Patriot helped all of the kids make a Teddy bear puppet to take home.

Everyone spent the day saying good bye to Patriot, we read a special book to Patriot called The Bear in the cave. It was all about a bear that goes on a trip and then comes home. The children thought the book was a lot like Patriot. We will miss him a lot. Tonight we are putting all of Patriots pictures in his album and backing his bag. We will say goodbye to him and wish him well on his journey. Tomorrow morning we will be taking Patriot to the Post Office so that he can continue on his journey to Ohio.
Good bye Patriot, safe travells...

Patriot arrived safe and sound all the way from Canada late this afternoon. Since we only have 3 napping children here and Patriot is very tired, we are letting him rest for the weekend before greeting everyone on Monday.

This morning Patriot woke up cheerful, very rested, and ready to meet some new friends. Patriot was very happy and excited and told us he had super fun in Canada. He shared lots of memories and photos with us. This is "Halloween" week at Step By Step Child Care. Patriot joined us for Preschool. The children painted their feet white - they were making 'Footprint Ghosts.' Patriot said he didn't need to paint his feet white because his feet were already white!

We have had a super busy week here with Patriot. We had our Halloween Party on Tuesday. Patriot was excited to see all of the children dressed in costume. There was a Lion, a Monkey, a Giraffe, Rapunzel, a Cheerleader, a Transformer, and a Witch. Ms. Jana let Patriot borrow her Pumpkin mask to wear. We had lots of treats to eat ..... cookies and candy and ice cream. Patriot bear had a lot of fun. He even got to go home with one of the children for a sleepover.
On Wednesday one of the little girls at Step By Step Child Care celebrated her 3rd birthday. We had donuts and more fun. Patriot's tummy was beginning to not feel so good from all of the junk food. However, despite not feeling totally well, he went home with the birthday girl for a 2nd sleepover. He did not go out with the family for dinner, he stayed home and rested. Today he feels much better.
Today is Black Day at daycare. All of the children came dressed up in black. One child brought a black outfit for Patriot to borrow so he could fit in with everyone. Patriot said he had never seen so much black color all at once.

Patriot arrived safely in Nebraska. More to come.

I got to meet most of the boys and girls today – some come just on Tuesday and Thursday so I’ll meet them tomorrow. I was a little nervous but I’m meeting so many new boys and girls in so many new places that it’s fun, too! I joined in all of the preschool activities. I like that they sang “Hello” to me. We played inside because it was cold. I got to play football with some of the boys. Before they left, some of the children made a bed (very soft!) for me and read stories. I slept all night long.
Tuesday, November 8, 2011
I met the rest of the preschoolers today. They were so careful to wake me up gently! Everyone put on their reading glasses (the kids said to tell you thank you, Andrea and the rest of my family!) and read my favorite book, “Good Night, Sleep Tight”. Then we all played with the lacing cards and playdough I brought with me from Jana and my friends in Ohio. That was a lot of fun! I got one of the strings wrapped around a paw but one of my friends helped me out.
We made plans for a picnic on Thursday. All the boys and girls are going to bring their favorite animal so I can meet them and make more new friends! Then they made me all snuggly warm in my bed so I’ll be ready for more fun tomorrow!

Today was the picnic! I liked meeting the preschoolers’ friends…..they were all so fuzzy like me! We put blankets on the floor inside because it was too windy outdoors. We had lots of good bear food and my tummy got really full.

I have enjoyed playing with the kids here, making turkey pictures and playing football, house, library, and restaurant with them. We played inside and outside. But I need to get ready to go to my next stop in Pennsylvania. The preschoolers helped me get all comfy and cozy in my box for my long trip. They hope I get to take an airplane because it will go fast. Goodbye to my Auburn friends and Hello to my new Pennsylvania friends.

Patriot arrived this morning at A Step Ahead. The children were so excited to get the package. Patriot enjoyed taking the time to explore our classroom. He especially liked the meals the children prepared with him in the kitchen center. I think he was hungry after the long journey.

I am having such a great time at A Step Ahead. The school age girls were off of school last week and they also enjoyed spending time playing with me - especially in the kitchen center. Thanksgiving was a little lonely without any children here for so many days, but Valerie & Sonya (Miss Jenn's daughters) included me in many of their activities. This morning I enjoyed music class. The children tickled me with the streamers and danced with me all over the room. I even got to help Miss Melanie play the guitar! That was fun! I understand that this week will be a busy week and I am so excited to play with my new friends more!

Wow! Today was an exciting day! The children held a teddy bear party in my honor. They all brought a bear from home and we played games together, sang songs, and did a special art project. It was nice to see some bears like me. At circle time we talked about hibernation and reading the story Hibernation Station made me realize that it is just about time for me to settle down too. We took one last group photo before nap time. I think I overheard Miss Jenn say that I will be going home tomorrow. They are planning to see me off at the post office. Oh, I can't wait to get back home. I miss my friends, but I have had such a fun time making new friends.
