Cooper has packed his bags and he is ready for his traveling adventure. The children at Discovery Kid's Daycare have played with him, loved him and hugged him a lot. They were sad to see him go, but happy for Cooper as he is so excited to begin his journey. Cooper is so excited to meet everyone at Theresa's Caring Place. He is a little nervous meeting new friends for the first time so he hopes that they will like him. Cooper is going to bed now to rest up for his journey.

Cooper arrived on Saturday and rested up over the weekend before meeting the daycare children. However, Ms. Theresa's daughter loved on Cooper quite a bit over the weekend. Monday, Cooper spent a wonderful day with the daycare children. He sat on N's lap during story time and ate morning snack (Goldfish Crackers and Apricots) with us. I think he prefers the goldfish crackers. Later he went outside with us. P gave him a ride in the cozy coupe and took him shopping with our shopping cart. Later N gave him slides down our climber slide. N even took a nap with him. On Tuesday, Cooper just cuddled with Ms. Theresa's family as it was a required professional development (food program). However, today (Wednesday) the children came back Cooper showed them his journal, scrapbook, and photo album. He gave the gifts to the children on Monday. Cooper loves his new friends in Kentucky and is enjoying my trip so far. Today P took a nap with him. He learned about bees today. He especially like the part about honey. P and N took Cooper outside again today. He took another ride in the cozy coupe with P and we again did some shopping. N showed Cooper Ms. Theresa's new playhouse. That was fun. He got to sit on the bench. P took a nap with Cooper today. N took the ride on toy and tipped it back so that N and Cooper could pretend that they were going into outer space. That was really fun. Then N's baby sister Z gave Cooper kisses. She likes Cooper a lot. The children are gone now but Cooper is looking forward to tomorrow with the children again.

I have arrived in Huntley, Illinois, in a suburb about 45 minutes away from Chicago, the “windy city” they say.
The children greeted me off the train with hugs and excitement. They have been watching my travels on the website and looking at maps to see where I have been. In my honor, the children were having teddy bear day (as luck would have it) and hosted a teddy bear picnic with tea and teddy grahams. It was lovely to meet so many other bears. The children were having fun graphing gummy bears at the afternoon snack while I sat in my own chair at the table. Chicago is having some unseasonably warm weather this week (almost 80 degrees) and it is wonderful to play outdoors in the changing fall leaves here. I am having the pleasure of spending the night with a new child each night during my stay here so I will surely have more to include in my journal later. Choa for now!

It is my 7th day here in Huntley, Illinois and I have been a busy bear. I have had three more sleepovers…little kids are such good snugglers. I watched a soccer game with one family and attended a field trip yesterday to a local farm/pumpkin patch. While at the pumpkin patch, the kids and I pedaled mini-John Deer tractors, visited animals in the petting zoo, and played in a giant silo of dried corn, it was the biggest sensory table I have ever seen! The kids here bought me a Chicago Bears jersey, so I have been wearing it during my visit here…how cool is it that they have a whole football team just for us bears. We are carving a pumpkin to see the inside of it and examine the contents in our sensory tub..sounds like gooey fun. Hasta!

Cooper has just arrived in Omaha. He is a little weary from his travels. He says to tell Busy Day Family Day Care that he really enjoyed his time in Connecticut ~ especially all the snow! It's a balmy 53 degrees here in Omaha so after a short nap, he & Maddi plan to head out to play in all those fall leaves. Then they'll try out the new Playdough set. Thank you Mary Beth & all the kids at Busy Day for the neat gift!

Hello to all my pals back at home and to all the new friends I've made as I have traveled the Teddy Bear Express! I arrived in Omaha, Nebraska last Friday and we've been having so much fun! This is the first chance I've had to sit down and write!
I was so tuckered out after traveling for 2 days to Nebraska that I laid down with Maddi for a nap. When we got up we played in the leaves and I tried a little tree climbing! It came natural because that's what bears do. Some of the leaves on the trees are so pretty here. After that Maddi and her Nana took me to this store called Husker Hounds. College football in Nebraska is quite a big deal. The University of Nebraska Cornhuskers were playing the following day so I needed to get some Husker gear to cheer on the team. I watched the game with Maddi's Nana & Papa on Saturday. Unfortunately, the Huskers lost but, I told them it's okay because the other team was from Illinois. I was there not too long ago visiting Miss Amy and all the kids at Little Hands Home Daycare & Preschool and they are really nice.
On Monday Maddi took me to a preschool class at this really neat place called a botanical garden. They have all kinds of trees, flowers, plants, a Koi Pond and even a Railroad Garden that has model trains. The class was studying about turkeys that day so we went on a hike through the gardens to try and find some wild turkeys. Maddi says that she sees them all the time when she goes there but they must have been hiding that day. I guess they are afraid of bears. While we were out walking we smelled something really good -- like cotton candy. The teacher told us that it was the leaves of the Katsura Tree decomposing. (That's a really long word. I'm going to have to look it up in the dictionary once I get home.) Once we were back in the classroom we made turkeys out of little terracotta pots and fall leaves. I had a lot of fun at the botanical gardens and really liked Maddi's teacher, Miss Jordan.
I was really surprised on Tuesday when Maddi and some of her friends - Dallin, Jaxson, Xander, Lucas, Mia V., Brookelynn, Sophie and Mia P. - had a party just for me! All of Maddi's friends brought their teddy bears so, I made a whole bunch of new friends. We made our own sandwiches and fruit skewers then had Honey Cupcakes for dessert. You know how much us bears love honey! YUMMY! After lunch we played Musical Bears and Red Apple, Green Apple, then had story time. Pooh and Christopher Robin were supposed to stop by for story time but, poor Pooh had a honey jar stuck on his nose and couldn't make it. Silly old bear.
Other than that, Maddi and I have been reading lots of books, counting, and practicing her letters using Duplo blocks. Maddi says I'm a very good helper.
Well, that's all for now. I'll write more later.

The Teddy Bear Express arrives in Nebraska to take me home to all my friends and family at Discovery Kid's Daycare in Canada tomorrow. What an amazing trip this has been; traveling to all these great places in the United States and making all kinds of new friends! I wanted to write one more time before I head home to tell you all what I've been up to.
Every day Maddi and I work on learning the alphabet and counting numbers, we read storybooks, draw and do crafts. I help Maddi make breakfast and lunch too. She is a really good cook. One day we made chocolate chip pancakes with bananas and a little honey on top. I liked those.
Last Wednesday I went with Maddi to Track & Field. I raced Maddi and the teacher, Miss Molly, on the indoor track and, guess what? I ran so fast and was getting so tired that I collapsed at the finish line but... I WON! We had a lot of fun running, jumping and playing games with all the other kids.
The next day we took a hike in the woods. The weather has got a little cooler here and most of the leaves are falling out of the trees now but, it was so much fun. Maddi and I hunted for forest fairies but, like those wild turkeys, they must be a little frightened of bears because we couldn't find any. Of course it could have been because Maddi and I were running and jumping in the leaves and giggling lots. We saw acorns, squirrels (did you know they have black squirrels here?) and even saw a little garter snake slither across the trail. Afterward Nana & Maddi took me on a little driving tour of Omaha. We saw the Durham Museum (the old Union Station), the Henry Doorly Zoo, and Rosenblatt Stadium (where they used to play the College World Series of Baseball). Then we stopped at a local favorite place to eat in Omaha called King Kong. There were stuffed toy zoo animals hanging all over the ceiling but mostly they had stuffed toy gorillas. They also had a Mama Gorilla and babies statues that you could climb on.
Maddi and her Nana are going to be learning about Fairy Tales next so, we went to the movies to see Puss in Boots on Friday. Maddi's mommy went too. We went during the middle of the day and we had the theater all to ourselves! After the movie and eating all that popcorn, Maddi and I were ready for a nap. We fell asleep in the car on the way home.
Saturday Maddi's Nana and Papa took Maddi, her Mommy and Daddy and I out for pizza. During lunch we watched the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers play football on the television. They won this time! It was a really good game. Nebraskans really do like their college football team. I wore my Husker gear again and I noticed that everywhere I looked people were wearing Red Husker shirts and hats. I even saw one guy at the game wearing a corn cob hat on his head. It was funny.
Yesterday Maddi and I went to her first opera. I think it was my first opera too. We saw the story of Hansel & Gretel at The Rose theater. Afterwards I got to meet the girl that played Gretel and she even autographed my program. Then Maddi and I got gingerbread cookies and sat outside to eat them. I didn't understand much of what the people were singing. I don't think Maddi did either but, neither of us moved throughout the whole show. Nana said we must have really liked it. The witch was really funny. And, Maddi said that the gingerbread house looked more like a big gingerbread hotel. It was covered with all kinds of candies and frosting. It would have been better with a little honey but, I suppose it would make it too sticky.
Today we are spending the day at Nana's house doing my laundry and getting packed. Nana says that we will read the story of the Elves and the Shoemaker and Jack and the Beanstalk, then practice tying shoelaces and counting and planting magic beans. Tomorrow on my way to the Teddy Bear Express, we are going to make one final stop at the Joslyn Art Museum. Maddi's librarian, Miss Nancy, is doing a special story time down there and she personally invited me to come. Wasn't that nice of her?
I'm a little sad to be leaving tomorrow but, I am really excited to be going home too.
See you soon!

Good News. It's finally snowing in Canada. Ok more good news Cooper has finally arrived home. He has made it through his extended stay in Canada customs. He is currently resting up and we will have a welcome home party for him tomorrow as many are out sick with something.
We would like to thank Theresa and all of the children at Theresa's Caring Place for hosting cooper, for loving on him while he was at your house. We would like to thank Theresa and her children for sending Cooper home with an awesome Louiseville slugger bat (my 12 yr old son has already fallen in love with it), the little ones are going to love it as well as we have some little summer baseball players in our group.
Ms Dawn and everyone at your family childcare, thank you for hosting Cooper, for making sure that he was cared for and loved. Thank you so much for the wonderful Maryland puzzle. We will definitely be having some fun with our new puzzle and we will be adding it to our puzzle time fun once a week.
