Sunshine Fingerplay - by Terry H.
The sun makes the outside a warm place to play
(arms above head in circle)
It makes the flowers grow each day
(holding up hands wiggling fingers)
The sun hides its face during the night
(cover face with hands)
But during the daytime it shines - oh so bright
(arms above head in circle)Sing a Song of Sunshine - sung to "Sing a song of sixpence"
Sing a song of sunshine
Be happy every day
Sing a song of sunshine
You'll chase the clouds away
Be happy every moment
No matter what you do
Just sing and sing and sing and sing
And let the sunshine through!Arts & Crafts

Paper Plate Suns
Have children paint paper plates yellow to make "suns." While the plates are still wet, let the children press paper rectangles (yellow crepe paper or tissue paper) on the paint. Encourage the children to not only stick rectangles in the middle of their plates but also over the rims to resemble sun rays.
* Variation: Have the children glue sunflower seeds in the middle of their plates to turn their suns into sunflowers. Attach them to green paper stems.
Sun Puppet
For each child cut two small circles out of yellow construction paper. Help each child glue his or her circles together with a Popsicle stick handle in between. Then let the children glue short pieces of yellow yarn around the edges of their circles to make sun rays.
Variation: I cut 6 inch circles. They put cute faces on it and clear glitter for it to sparkle. We used a tongue depressor for the stick. We put hole punches around the circle about 10 of them and put the yarn through and tied a knot. The rays were about 5 inches long. They had fun trying to tie knots. 5-year-olds can do it all. Parents loved them and thanks again. You could make a face and do the same for hair to make a person puppet.
